- 5.1. B.Y.O.C.: Outside of tournaments run on traditional arcade cabinets, each player is responsible for providing their own input device compatible with the platform indicated by the event's Start.gg page.
- 5.2. Bindings: Button binds which assign a single actuator, switch, or button to one or more simultaneous buttons (not including directions) are allowed so long as the bind activates all inputs on the same frame.
- 5.3. Macros / Turbo: Button binds that perform motions or other time-displaced inputs (with or without being held down) are prohibited.
- 5.4. Leverless S.O.C.D.: When using leverless devices, Simultaneous Opposite Cardinal Direction settings must be set such that 'Left + Right' resolves as 'Neutral' (center input) and 'Up + Down' resolves as 'Up' (absolute priority).
6. Set Procedure
6.1. Before Each Set
- 6.1.1. Choosing Sides: Both players must agree on which of them will play on the player-1 side before starting their set. If an agreement cannot be reached, positions will be decided via coin-toss by a tournament organizer.
- 6.1.2. Standard Character Selection: Characters may be chosen normally using the Character Select screen.
- 6.1.3. Double-Blind Character Selection: A player may request 'double-blind selection,' meaning that both players would have to disclose their picks in secret to a tournament organizer. If players are split on preferring standard selection and double-blind selection, the method will be decided via coin-toss by a tournament organizer.
6.2. During Each Set
- 6.2.1. Switching Sides: A player may choose to switch sides (player-2 to player-1, or vice-versa) only immediately after losing a game.
- 6.2.2. Switching Characters: A player may choose to switch characters only immediately after losing a game.
- 6.2.3. Switching Super Arts: A player may choose to switch Super Arts immediately after losing a game. After winning a game, a player may switch Super Arts only if the loser switched their character or Super Art.
6.3. Set Interruptions
- 6.3.1. Pausing / Freezing:
- A player who pauses the game during a round or triggers a bug that causes the game to reset or become unplayable for both players, intentional or not, shall forfeit the game
- except during an animation that, if uninterrupted, would have resulted in the end of the round ("inevitable defeat"), in which case no player is penalized and the set resumes as normal
- 6.3.2. Violations / Malfunctions: Tournament organizers may interrupt a set if they suspect that a rule violation or equipment malfunction has occurred, as can either player. Players may not pause, reset, or freeze the game, even to report an issue. Instead, they must:
- immediately stop playing
- set aside their controller (without disconnecting it)
- call for a stoppage in play
- move away from the setup
- report the issue to a tournament organizer
- 6.3.3. Reporting an Issue:
- Rule violations and equipment malfunctions must be reported at the time they occur so that they can be investigated and action taken.
- No delayed reports will result in score changes or disqualifications.
- Players who mis-report an issue shall forfeit the game.
- 6.3.4. Resuming Play: An interrupted set will be resumed as soon as possible, at the discretion of a tournament organizer.
- If a player was penalized and there are games remaining in the set, the next game begins as normal.
- If neither player was penalized, such as in cases of legitimate equipment malfunction or organizational issues, the set resumes at the beginning of the interrupted game except when both players agree to resume from the beginning of the interrupted round.
6.4. After Each Set
- 6.4.1. Reporting Scores: The winner of each set is responsible for reporting their score to a tournament organizer.
7. Disqualification
- 7.1. Bracket Removal: A disqualified player loses their set by 'DQ' and is eliminated from the tournament.
- 7.2. Record Keeping: Players who fail to play a set must have that bracket loss marked as 'DQ' and not as a '0' score.
- 7.3. Series Ineligibility: A disqualified player may be banned from participation in future Jazzy Circuit events in cases of severe infractions.
- 7.4. Infraction Examples: Actions that may result in disqualification include (but are not limited to):
- failing to check in or to be ready when one's set is called
- tampering with tournament equipment
- colluding with others to manipulate tournament outcomes
- assuming the identity of another player
- using a controller not in compliance with regulations
